L8insights is a personal space for reflection. I write here at my own pace to clarify my thoughts and share a perspective on systems, algorithms, society, and how they interact.
I write from what is sometimes called Layer 8: the human layer of systems. In the security world, it is often described as the weakest link. I believe, on the contrary, that this layer is the only one with the consciousness needed to question these systems and to choose to protect what matters beyond the relentless pursuit of efficiency: society itself.
My work places me at the heart of systems that increasingly shape our lives, particularly in cyber security and digital governance. Over time, I have seen how such structures can become self-perpetuating, losing sight of their original purpose.
I believe systems should serve society, not the other way round. Yet we too often accept their complexity, rigidity, or control—even when this quietly diminishes human well-being and weakens democratic agency.
This space is neither an indictment nor a statement of absolute truth. It is simply a collection of reflections: a personal attempt to understand where we are and to imagine how we might move forward differently.
